The Mayor and six Town Council Members are elected at large. The Mayor serves a two year term, the Town Council members serve four year staggered terms. Utility Supervisor
The Town of Lovettsville, originally known as the German Settlement, is a small community in northern Loudoun County, Virginia, with historical roots dating to 1732. Lovettsville is three miles south of Brunswick, Maryland, and less than 35 miles from Winchester, VA, Martinsburg, WV, and Dulles International Airport. Lovettsville’s Utility Department consists of five wells, two Water Treatment Facilities, and a .375mgd Wastewater Facility.
The Town of Lovettsville seeks a dedicated, responsive, and experienced individual for the position of Utility Supervisor. The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable water or/and wastewater operator with at least five years’ experience in Water or Wastewater operations, preferably with some experience in management.
The Utility Supervisor is responsible for administering, operating, and maintaining the Town’s water treatment plants, including water storage, wells, well treatment facilities and distribution system, and the Town’s wastewater treatment plant and collection system.
The Supervisor is responsible for the following tasks to ensure the operations are performed safely and efficiently and in compliance with all applicable state and federal standards:
• performing a variety of administrative and reporting tasks in the areas of water and sanitary sewer utilities;
• supervision of all personnel, including two direct reports: Chief Water Operator and Chief Wastewater Operator;
• perform technical supervisory duties in coordinating the Town’s operation and maintenance activities;
• scheduling, coordinating, and facilitating proper inventory of supplies, and completion of recurring maintenance of tools, vehicles, systems, and facility grounds,
• preparing and submission of all required testing and regulatory reporting; and
• carrying out any related work as required.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: High school diploma and five years’ experience in water and wastewater operations, maintenance, and management of public water and sanitary sewer collection system; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Additional Qualification Requirements: Possession of a Class II or better Water and a Class III or better Wastewater Operators License as issued by the Virginia Department of Professional & Occupational Regulation (DPOR) or ability to obtain licenses within 18 months of employment). Possession of a valid state driver’s license. Compensation and Benefits: Targeted Hiring Range: up to $75,000 annual salary based on experience and qualifications.

Plant Operator (Trainee)
The Town of Lovettsville seeks a motivated and dependable individual for the position of Water or Wastewater Operator. This position is to perform routine tasks and necessary tests and apply sound judgment based on training and defined operations and maintenance practices related to water and wastewater processing at treatment facilities.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: Graduation from high school or vocational school; possess a valid state driver’s license and safe driving record; ability to obtain a Virginia Waterworks or Wastewater works Operator Class 4 license as issued by the Virginia Department of Professional & Occupational Regulation (DPOR) within the first 18 months of employment. Required skills: Ability to solve practical problems, troubleshoot systems, and deal with various concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Compensation and Benefits: Targeted Hiring Range: $35,000 to $42,000 annual salary based on qualifications.
